Cougar Choirs
CON BRIO
Con Brio is a non-varsity Tenor/Bass Choir composed of 9th/10th graders that meet during 7th period on B day. This choir performs at our Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts. Students perform at UIL as a Non-Varsity Tenor/Bass Choir. They are able to audition for the All-State Choir, the 9/10 Choir, and participate in Solo & Ensemble in the spring.
CANTABILE
Cantabile is a Varsity Treble Choir composed of 10th/11th/12th graders that meet during 2nd period on A day. This choir performs at our Fall, Winter, Cluster and Spring concerts. Students perform at UIL as a Varsity Treble Choir. They are able to audition for the All-State Choir, the 9/10 Choir, and participate in Solo & Ensemble in the spring. They will also perform at Festival Di Voce competition in the Spring.
CHAMBER
Chamber is an auditioned Varsity Mixed Choir composed 11th/12th graders that meet during 3rd period on A days. These students are double blocked, and need to be enrolled in Bel Canto or Cantabile in order to qualify to audition for Chamber. Chamber performs at Fall, Winter and Spring Concerts. In addition, Chamber also performs at our Cluster Concert in the Fall, and Coffee House, and tours Elementary and Middle School feeders in the winter. Chamber will perform the National Anthem during Pep Rally's. This group will also be our big volunteer group: helping with Ousley Concerts, or events around the school that need volunteers. They are the leaders of our choir program. Chamber will also go to the MAD Fest in the spring, and participate in the UIL Concert/Sightreading contest as a Varsity Mixed Choir. They are able to audition for the All-State Choir and participate in Solo & Ensemble in the spring.
CON LUX
Con Lux is a non-varsity Treble Choir composed of 9th/10th graders that meet during 8th period on B day. This choir performs at our Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts. Students perform at UIL as a Non-Varsity Treble Choir. They are able to audition for the All-State Choir, the 9/10 Choir, and participate in Solo & Ensemble in the spring.
BEL CANTO
Bel Canto is a Varsity Tenor/Bass Choir composed of 10th/11th/12th graders that meet during 9th period on B day. This choir performs at our Fall, Winter, Cluster and Spring concerts. Students perform at UIL as a Varsity Tenor/Bass Choir. They are able to audition for the All-State Choir, the 9/10 Choir, and participate in Solo & Ensemble in the spring.
BLUE BELTS
BlueBelts is an auditioned ensemble containing students 9th-12th grade that meets after school Tuesdays from 5:00pm - 7:00pm and Thursdays from 5:00pm - 7:30pm. This group performs at our Fall, Winter Events and Spring Concert. BlueBelts will have a massive performance called Show Case that all of AISD Show Choirs compete in during February. BlueBelts will also tour our Elementary and Middle School feeders. BlueBelts are also automatically in the ensemble for that year’s musical. They do not need to audition for the musical unless they want a chance at a lead role. Other than that, those musical rehearsals are considered BlueBelt rehearsals and will be treated as such.
BLUE NOTES
Blue Notes is an auditioned vocal jazz ensemble composed of 11th/12th graders that meet after school on Wednesdays from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. This group performs at our Fall, Winter Events, and Spring Concert. Blue Notes will also tour Elementary and Middle School feeders.
